Emma has worked in sexual health for many years, starting her journey with Jigsaw, a sexual health support charity in Wirral, then becoming Wirral Terrance Higgins Trust before working at Sahir House and developing our outreach and prevention service.
Emma is well known in the Wirral and throughout Merseyside for her passion and commitment to prevention and wellbeing. She built up extensive networks of trust and confidence over the years, had a charming and engaging manner with the people who used our services and her support especially with the local LGBT community and sexual health and HIV testing has reached far and wide. She leaves a lasting legacy that has contributed to the ongoing fight against stigma and helped people embrace their HIV status, whatever that may be. The Board, and team at Sahir House including our service users, wish to express our gratitude and wish her well with her onward adventures.
Hayley Clifton, Commissioning and Contracts Manager, Wirral Council commenting on Emma’s departure said: “I have worked with Emma for many years; she has been a strong advocate for some of our most vulnerable residents within the borough and her passion and dedication to the HIV prevention agenda has been clear for all to see. I would like to thank Emma for all of her hard work and commitment to the cause, and wish her every success for the future.”
Kath Charters, a longstanding colleague at Sahir House, with expertise in wellbeing, is leading our prevention and outreach work in the Wirral, including the Clinic and working closely with Dawson and Phil, our Wirral Outreach workers.
Helen, Sahir House’s Chief Executive notes: “Wellbeing and prevention is at the heart of Sahir House’s work; that work has its roots in the Wirral. We are working to mainstream and embed our approach to prevention and wellbeing across the organisation and are keen to expand our reach in prevention across the Mersey region. We look forward to working with other stakeholders across the Mersey region and funders to see how we can scale and replicate our outreach and prevention work across the Mersey region.”
