Sahir House Training Course
Improving your confidence, skills and understanding when supporting LGBTQI+ asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in Liverpool

Sahir House has been supporting people seeking asylum and refugees living with HIV for many years. We have built on our experience to provide a safe space for those seeking asylum (regardless of their HIV status) who identify as LGBTQI+.

Thanks to Our Liverpool funding we are hosting free on line training for those developing and/or delivering support to people seeking asylum and refugee communities in Liverpool and surrounding boroughs.
The 2 hour interactive course will:
o Reduce associated stigma by increasing our understanding of the context of why LGBTQI+ people may seek asylum
o Learn from those with lived experience / who attend Many Hands One Heart Support Group (LGBTQI+ asylum peer support)
o Provide up to date information and resources to build on skills and better equip our services
o Respond with confidence to LGBTQI+ refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in Liverpool and surrounding boroughs
o Explore language and meaning relating to the LGBTQI+ community
o Share best practice to promote inclusion

The next course is on Wednesday 2nd February 2022
