National HIV Testing Week: Events in the Liverpool City Region

To engage the community, Sahir will be attending and hosting a series of events and activities scheduled throughout the Liverpool City Region during National HIV Testing Week.

These include educational workshops, outreach activities, and confidential testing services at various accessible locations. A detailed list of events can be found below.

 

Every day during National HIV Testing Week

Wirral Sexual Health Clinic: Drop-In Testing, Information & Advice

10:00 – 12:00
St Catherine’s Health Centre, Derby Road, Birkenhead, CH42 0LQ

Wirral Sexual Health Clinic will be open each morning for anyone interested in obtaining a HIV test. Clinicians and nursing staff will be on hand to answer any queries that visitors might have around their sexual health. All testing is free, private and confidential.

 

Monday 5th February

Testing & Information Pop-Up at Townhouse

10:30 – 14:00
Tranmere
A private and confidential HIV testing and sexual health information event for the patrons of Townhouse Swingers Members Club.

Information Pop-Up at City of Liverpool College

11:30-13:30

The stall will have information about testing for HIV, how to access your local sexual health services, HIV prevention resources and information on new treatments to prevent onward transmission of HIV.

 

Tuesday 6th February

Testing & Information Pop-Up at Wirral YMCA

10:30 – 12:00

Sahir House, Wirral Sexual Health, Wirral Ways and Wirral Health Protection Service will be providing: Free and confidential rapid HIV point-of-care testing  and HIV self-test kits for home use;  HIV prevention information; STI screening; and health protection information to people residing in Wirral YMCA.

The stall will have information about testing for HIV, how to access your local sexual health services, HIV prevention resources and information on new treatments to prevent onward transmission of HIV.

St Helens Book Shop – Information Stall

We will be hosting a sexual health and HIV testing information stall at St Helens Book Shop.  Members of the public will be able to meet with members of our friendly team to have an open and non-judgmental chat about anything sexual health related. People will be able to take away safer sex packs and also HIV home testing kits.

St Helens Bookshop is a brilliant independent bookshop serving St Helens and surrounding boroughs. The bookshop is owned by the community and most importantly, exists for the benefit of the community.

Victoria Health Centre: National HIV Testing Week Drop-In

Wirral Sexual Health will offer their usual service  including STI testing and for National HIV Testing Week will  host Sahir House who will be  providing free and confidential rapid HIV point-of-care testing  and HIV prevention information to members of the public.

Change Grow Live: Health Huddle

Change Grow Live will host Sahir and Wirral Sexual Health at their weekly ‘Health Huddle’ which provides needle exchange services, blood borne virus screening, pregnancy testing and more to those who identify as female. Sahir House and Wirral Sexual Health will be on hand to provide free and confidential HIV point-of-care testing, STI screening and information about HIV prevention tools PEP and PrEP.

 

Wednesday 7th February

The Life Rooms Bootle – Information Stall

We will be hosting a sexual health and HIV testing information stall at Bootle Life Rooms.  People who access this service will be able to meet with members of our friendly team to have an open and non-judgmental chat about anything sexual health related. People will be able to take away safer sex packs and also HIV home testing kits.

The Life Rooms is a free NHS service who provide a safe and welcoming space to meet others, access opportunities and learn about community resources. They offer support to those wanting to take the next steps in their life.

Tomorrow’s  Women Wirral: National HIV Testing Week Event

Tomorrow’s  Women Wirral is a charity for women, run by women, offering support with a range of issues including domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse, wellbeing & confidence, and social isolation. Sahir House and Wirral Sexual Health will be visiting Tomorrow’s Women to provide free and confidential HIV point-of-care testing, STI screening and information about HIV prevention tools PEP and PrEP

The Bodyline Clinic: HIV Testing Bookable Drop-In

Thursday 8th February

Change Grow Live – Information Stall

We will be hosting a sexual health and HIV testing information stall at CGL. People who access this service will be able to meet with members of our friendly team to have an open and non-judgmental chat about anything sexual health related. People will be able to take away safer sex packs and also HIV home testing kits.

CGL provides a range of services to support individuals, families and communities whose lives are adversely affected by crime, substance misuse, homelessness, anti-social behaviour, domestic violence, social deprivation and lack of opportunity. The Charity works with service users with complex needs, including those with entrenched drug habits and offending behaviour.

“Testing doesn’t have to be a Drag!”

Sahir has coordinated a large gathering of our wonderful local drag queens and artists to create awareness around testing and accessibility of testing. Essentially proving that, testing doesn’t have to be a drag!
This event will be covered by the Liverpool Echo and our social media volunteer will be live streaming the event on our socials. We will be sending invites to this brilliant event very soon.
